CREDO FOUNDATION
The Credo Foundation is a non-profit organisation that promotes counsellor-based family-care for children, youth and adults. The organisation is under supervision by the county administrative board.
Credo started its counsellor-based family-care organisation at the request of the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs and the National Board of Health and Welfare on 1st July 1990. The body behind the foundation was the National Alcoholics and Drug Abusers Association.
Family-care is built up on the individual family´s desire and ability to take children, youth and adults into their homes and give them the security they require to make positive changes in their life. Credo works along with approximately 200 families throughout Sweden.
The team at Credo is made up of eight counsellors with academic qualifications.

CORE VALUES
Credo believes that family-care must be an inclusive teamwork between the family-carers, the child (youth, adult) in care, social workers, birth parent and the counsellors at Credo.
- The basic view held by the counsellors is that all clients, regardless of history and difficulty, are capable of change.
- Majority of children, youth and adult can be helped by family-care on the condition that they are matched with “the right family”.
- Respect for diversity
- The family-care should be centered on the person in care and its social network
- Solution-focused approach
- Development of new ideas
